In this micro-course, you will develop and effectively apply knowledge of copyright, open licensing and license remix compatibility utilising open education practices to support tertiary learning in a global digital context.\n<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"What_will_I_learn.3F\">What will I learn?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In this micro-course you will:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Discuss the implications of why open matters for learning in a digital age.\n<\/li>\n<li> Define what constitutes an open educational resource (OER)\n<\/li>\n<li> Identify implications of OER for solving real-world problems and learning in a digital age.\n<\/li>\n<li> Gain knowledge of how copyright works in a digital world.\n<\/li>\n<li> Apply knowledge of the scope, rights, protections, exceptions, and, transfer of copyright.\n<\/li>\n<li> Interpret and apply knowledge of the Public Domain, Creative Commons open licenses and legal remix compatibility for derivative works.\n<\/li>\n<li> Explore additional dimensions of openness for learning in a digital age.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"What.27s_involved.3F\">What&#8217;s involved?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There are 7 learning pathways, each containing numerous resources and learning challenges, designed to help you achieve success for networked learning in a digital age. The learning pathways are:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Why open matters\n<\/li>\n<li> Defining OER\n<\/li>\n<li> Copyright\n<\/li>\n<li> Copyright case study\n<\/li>\n<li> Creative commons\n<\/li>\n<li> Remix game\n<\/li>\n<li> Dimensions of openness.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The micro-course can be completed in 40 hours, including preparation for the assessment.\n<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"mw-headline\" id=\"What_prerequisites_should_I_have.2C_if_any.3F\">What prerequisites should I have, if any?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Anyone is free to participate in this course. An internet connection and basic web browsing skills are required with the ability to create a blog and microblog account (instructions and self-study tutorials provided.)\n<\/p>\n<p>Learners aiming to submit assessments for formal credit towards an academic qualification will need to meet the normal university admission requirements of the conferring institution (e.g. language proficiency and school leaving certificates etc.).\n<\/p>\n<p>Each micro-course can be studied independently but may rely on some knowledge and skills gained in related micro courses which can be accessed and consulted freely online.
